Who We Are
Husband, father, Poppy, friend, mentor, and role model, are just a few hats John wore everyday. Knowing John was life’s biggest blessing. He was someone who was always giving. He was kind, generous, loving, and selfless. Born and raised on Staten Island, Settled in Westerleigh. John and his wife Sandra, raised his daughter Carolyn Mastropietro Sica and son Neal Mastropietro. John played football, baseball and golf. He was a firefighter at Engines 224 and 154. Barbara Mastropietro, John’s mother, started the Mid Island softball program, had a hand in building the girls field and his father Aniello “Red” Mastropietro was a coach and continued to maintain the fields.
Mid Island has always been a huge part of the Mastropietro family. It has become a place we call home. Spending baseball seasons on the field, watching mom selling snacks at the stands, laughing with friends, and celebrating wins with a community. Mid Island will always be a place we hold close to our hearts.
We honor John's memory by continuing to support Mid Island Little League. Ensuring that his legacy lives on and that future generations are not only given the opportunity to experience the joy of playing baseball, but to make the same memories with their loved ones. Through our unwavering support, we not only celebrate the spirit of the game but the remembrance, and the valuable contributions of a remarkable man.
